Summer Spectacular: Shrek
Ages 8-13 $430
Our annual Summer Spectacular will be a 5 day intensive theater camp, where the cast of kids will produce a full-length musical in 5 days! Rehearsal will be every day from 9-3, Monday-Friday with two performances on Friday; one at 1:00 pm and one at 5:00 pm.
Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek...." And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek.
*Kids will be responsible for bringing their own lunch.
*Leah will provide snacks.
*The cast will be fed between shows on Friday.
High School One Act: Twelfth Night
Directed by special guest Elizabeth Gray
Grades 8-12 $330
Imagine waking up on a beach, alone--with no one for miles. Where is your ship? Where is your twin brother? You remember a raging sea-storm, but now you’re in a strange land. Welcome to your new life. Shakespeare’s beloved comedy Twelfth Night follows our heroine, Viola, as she embarks on a journey of a lifetime! Twelfth Night is a whirlwind of mistaken identities, unrequited love triangles, meddling clowns, and a familial bond that cannot be broken. This classic comedy is for the lover and fighter in us all.
If music be the food of love—PLAY ON!
-For the two-week rehearsal process, rehearsals will be Monday-Friday for 4 hours each day (i.e. 3pm-7pm). There will be one Saturday rehearsal for 6 hours (i.e. 12pm-6pm).
-Rehearsals will have a 15 minute break for each 4 hour rehearsal day, and a 30 minute break on the 6 hour rehearsal day. Students should bring a snack and water.
-Not every player will be called to each rehearsal, but students should be prepared to attend every rehearsal, regardless.
-Due to the intensive nature of this project, students will be expected to have their lines memorized by the second Monday of the rehearsal process.
-Students are expected to wear appropriate shoes and clothes for movement-based exploration work. Open-toed shoes will not be permitted.
-Players need to have a positive, ensemble-building attitude. Any bullying, negativity, or unpreparedness will not be tolerated—a student may be re-cast based on their actions.
